In the beginning, Paris wants to marry Juliet but her father turned him down since she’s too young. But allows her to meet Paris to see if she might like him. With everyone mourning Tybalt's death, Lord Capulet believes if Juliet marries Paris it’ll help lift her spirits and bring joy to the family. Although she wants to please her family, she struggles with her true feelings. Ultimately, this internal conflict is too much and goes to Friar Lawrence to help her avoid the marriage. He suggests drinking a potion in which she will appear dead for a few hours, this way she can escape the wedding and be rescued by Romeo. The plan is risky, but Juliet’s desperation to have Romeo come back is too intense so she is willing to take the chance. This willingness highlights her commitment to Romeo by going as far as to fake her death for him. Day of the funeral, Romeo finds out she’s dead, Romeo is heartbroken and can't imagine living without her, not knowing the truth, he buys poison to end his life. He goes to Juliet's one last time and drinks the poison. Juliet upon awakening finds Romeo dead beside her. She too cannot bet the thought of loving without taking a dagger and ends her own life.
