Write a letter to judge asking for liency in sentencing terry hines. Due to some very serious traumatic circumstances of his mother dying of cancer during Covid he wasn’t able to say goodbye properly, then his father who he had no relationship with due to him being in prison most of his life he finally had him let him become his roommate he was tragically killed by a hit and run driver drug under the car for miles and terry never properly grieved him. Left him in a financial circumstance to take care of all the bills himself. Then he let his best friend of thirty years move in to help him and hoped this would ease his financial obligations to just be robbed and betryaed by him. Then terry went back to his old ways and found himself in legal problems. Instead of sending terry to more prison. He needs an opportunity to address his addictions and to receive guidance and mentoring to become the man who he truly is. I’ve known terry for years seen him fall and rise several times. This time is different He is humble. He sees his errors. He knows what he needs to do to succeed. He is driven differently then he ever has been. Terry has helped many with his positive character traits. He has a work ethic like no other. He continued to work through every trial when most would have gave up he kept trying he just chooses some bad decisions. With a little work. Terry can be transformed and learn how to make the right decisions. I didn’t know how bad he was struggling tell it was to late. But I promise the courts to be there for him. I will take him to appointments. Support him in his recovery by taking him to recovery meetings to a recovery church called free community where he will be plugged in with strong mentors who he can be like. It is factual that without mentorship receividisim is 70% but with mentorship the recividisim rate of return to prison is around 3%. Terry has strong morals and ethics. Don’t throw him away. Prison is just more punishment he needs a halfway house or treatment for the best rehabilitation of a person.

Dear Judge [Judge's Last Name],

I am writing to respectfully request leniency in the sentencing of Terry Hines. I have known Terry for many years and have witnessed his struggles and resilience through some profoundly traumatic experiences.

Terry faced the heartbreaking loss of his mother to cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented him from saying goodbye. Shortly after, he lost his estranged father, who he had only recently begun to reconnect with, in a tragic hit-and-run accident. This series of events left Terry in a state of grief and financial distress, as he took on the responsibility of managing all household bills alone.

In an effort to cope, Terry allowed his long-time friend to move in, hoping for support. Unfortunately, this friendship ended in betrayal, leading Terry back to old habits and legal troubles. However, I believe this time is different for him. Terry has shown humility and a genuine desire to change. He recognizes his past mistakes and is committed to addressing his addictions.

Terry possesses a strong work ethic and has consistently demonstrated positive character traits throughout his life. He has helped many others, and I am confident that with the right support, he can transform his life. I am committed to being there for him, assisting him with appointments and supporting his recovery by taking him to meetings at a local recovery church, Free Community, where he can connect with strong mentors.

Research indicates that mentorship significantly reduces recidivism rates, and I believe that with guidance, Terry can learn to make better decisions and become a productive member of society. Instead of incarceration, I urge you to consider alternatives such as a halfway house or treatment program that would provide him with the rehabilitation he needs.

Thank you for considering this request for leniency. I truly believe that Terry has the potential to turn his life around with the right support and guidance.

Sincerely,
